From 14 to 19 June, B-Cubed participated in the 4th World Biodiversity Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, organised by the University of Zurich. This year’s Forum was titled “Leading Transformation Together” and it welcomed more than 1000 participants across 70 countries with its 10 different thematic tracks.
Presentations
B-Cubed partner Maarten Trekels (Meise Botanic Garden) gave a presentation, titled “Turning Opportunistic Records into Evidence: Biodiversity Data Cubes for a Changing Planet”. The talk focused on how biodiversity data cubes, developed by B-Cubed, transform fragmented observations into interoperable, policy-relevant evidence and make it easier to interpret, compare, or use for robust modelling and indicators.

B-Cubed was also mentioned in two of Pensoft Publishers’ presentations, led by Alexandra Korcheva. In the presentation “From FAIR Data to FAIR Policy [...]”, B-Cubed was provided as an example of a project following such FAIR principles. While in the other presentation focused on “Communicating Science to Policy [...]”, B-Cubed’s policy briefs were showcased as successful examples of engaging and stakeholder-relevant science communication.

Dissemination materials
During the whole event, B-Cubed’s policy briefs and the legacy booklet were distributed at a dissemination booth dedicated to the project, along with the materials of other EU-funded projects like BMD and OneSTOP.

The World Biodiversity Forum 2026 was an opportunity to create broad and strong networks for transformation, bringing science, society, and businesses together, across generations. The next WBF will take place in 2028, and it will build on the valuable experience from previous World Biodiversity Forums.
